A transformative journey that challenges perceptions, sparks dialogue, and redefines boundaries. We invite artists, creatives, and architects to participate in the redesign of the Israeli Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2024.

In a world marked by shifting identities, interconnectedness, and the complexities of migration and displacement, the Israel Pavilion aims to serve as a dynamic space for exploration, reflection, and exchange. We seek visionary minds who are passionate about reshaping narratives, dismantling dogmas, and embracing diversity in all its forms. Identities are fluid and borders are constantly challenged, the idea of a motherland takes on new significance for the Israel pavilion. It represents not only a geographical space but also a cultural, historical, and emotional anchor—a place of conquest, growth, and settlement.

As we confront the realities of our globalized society, the concept of belonging takes on new dimensions. It transcends history, geographical borders, and international socio- political affiliations, weaving a rich tapestry of experiences that bind us together as a global community.

With this in mind, we challenge you to reimagine the Israel Pavilion as a site of convergence, divergence, and transformation. How can architecture, art, and creativity intersect to redefine the notion of being foreigner in the motherland and its impact on our collective consciousness?

Proposals

Your proposal may take various forms, including but not limited to:

– Architectural interventions that blur the boundaries between inside and outside, public and private, familiar and foreign.

– Site-specific installations that provoke thought, evoke emotion, and invite participation from visitors of all backgrounds.

– Multi-disciplinary collaborations that integrate visual art, performance, sound, and technology to create immersive experiences.

– Conceptual frameworks that explore the fluidity of identity, belonging, and the ever- evolving nature of cultural exchange.

– Community engagement initiatives that foster dialogue, empathy, and understanding among diverse audiences.

We encourage you to draw inspiration from the rich tapestry of culture, history, and heritage, while also engaging critically with contemporary issues and global realities. Your proposal should offer fresh perspectives, innovative approaches, and thought- provoking insights that challenge conventional norms and expand our horizons.

Selected proposals could have the opportunity to be showcased at the Biennale Arte, where they will become part of a larger conversation about the role of art and architecture in shaping our collective future.

Join us in reimagining the Israel Pavilion as a beacon of creativity, inclusivity, and dialogue.
