S+T+ARTS Prize & S+T+ARTS Prize Africa 2024

S+T+ARTS ist eine Initiative der Europäischen Kommission zur Förderung von Innovation an der Schnittstelle von Wissenschaft, Technologie und künstlerischer Praxis. Interdisziplinäre Projekte können für den renommierten S+T+ARTS Prize und den erstmals ausgeschriebenen S+T+ARTS Prize Africa eingereicht werden.

S+T+ARTS Prize: Zwei Hauptpreise und 40.000 Euro
Der jährlich ausgeschriebene S+T+ARTS Prize sucht Projekte, die gesellschaftliche, ökologische und ökonomische Herausforderungen adressieren. Ars Electronica veranstaltet die Ausschreibung gemeinsam mit INOVA+, French Tech Grand Provence, Media Solutions Center Baden-Württemberg, Salzburger Festspiele, Sonar, T6Ecosystems und Kustodie an der TUD Dresden. Die zwei Hauptpreise für " Innovative Collaboration" und "Artistic Exploration" sind mit jeweils 20.000 Euro dotiert.

S+T+ARTS Prize Africa: Ein Hauptpreis und 30.000 Euro
2024 wird der erste STARTS Prize Africa ausgeschrieben, der die Kreativszene des Kontinents in den Fokus rückt. Mit einem Grand Prize und 15.000 Euro sowie fünf Auszeichnungen und je 3.000 Euro werden wegweisende Projekte prämiert, die zur positiven Entwicklung und digitalen Transformation der Kulturbranche in Afrika beitragen.

What can be submitted?

• Groundbreaking collaborations and projects driven by both technology and the arts. Purely artistic or technologically driven projects are not the focus of this competition.
• All forms of artistic works and practices with a strong link to innovation in technology, business and/or society; furthermore, S+T+ARTS is not restricted to a particular genre such as media art and digital art.
• All types of technological and scientific research and development that has been inspired by art or involves artists as catalysts of novel thinking.
• The jury is looking forward to receiving submissions from a broad variety of fields and disciplines. Among others, projects from the areas of new media applications, human computer interaction, machine learning, biotechnology, art & science, green technologies, material research, smart cities and citizen empowerment, robotics, quantum technology and many more are very welcome to apply.
